How to: JDM Side Indicators

I have recently received a few emails about the positioning of the JDM side markers in my car, so I decided to make a page outlining the measurements. Since my car already has side markers, Jesse from TeamG2R has kindly supplied some pics and information about cutting the hole in USDM fenders. The picures with red panels are of my car with OEM hole.

JDM Side Marker Cut Outs.

Tools needed:

  • Metal cutting tool/ Dremel/and or ten snips
  • Masking Tape/Automotive protective tape
  • Permanent writing marker
  • Safety glasses.
  • For those of you that don’t have the JDM holes here it is. At first I had bought my JDM fenders to replace our crummy USDM fender, but in thinking it through, my JDM fenders where in bad shape and needed paint, so I decided to copy the side marker placement and duplicated on my USDM fender. Make all proper measurements and check it twice before gutting a hole, you only get one chance.

For those with better paint then my car I suggest you cover the area with tape so you will not damage the paint and or crack it. In my hand I used a cardboard template to place my pattern out on my stock fender, also I used another cardboard template between the door and the fender to prevent access spark from hitting any glass or paint. The force of flying debris from grinding can cause small pits in your glass or deep scratches to your body. Cover all areas with proper material

Mike at mikeskustoms.com made small cuts to the fender after placing the template. To insure proper and tight fitment he used a Drimul or diecutting wheel which you see here in this picture. Fitting the JDM side marker over and over on the hole cut out was extended for proper fitment.

Note: Make sure you place the marker in the right direction, JDM markers have a direction arrow in the direction it should be pointing. In this case the slop part should face the door side.

    Wiring Side Markers:

I guess the personal preference of wiring the side markers is if you want them to light up and blink when applied or just simply have them blink when applied.

JDM blinkers are lit up when parking lights are on or so I have been told,

So what I did is tapped the wiring from the USDM front/side headlight blinkers.

Make sure when wiring up anything to your car you unplug the battery. Also JDM side markers have a green and black wire. The Green wire is you Hot wire (Positive) the Black wire is your Ground wire (Negative)

Now if you do not wish for your side markers to be on when you apply the parking lights then you would tap to the front blinker or turning lights, applying the same steps.

This website has been gradually growing since I started it in early 2002. Originally I was simply documenting modifications and repairs to my car but I decided to publish it when I began to discover others were interested in the information. If you need help or have a how-to relating to Honda B series VTEC engines, or DA or DC2R Integras you can

While all care is taken to provide correct information, mistakes are occasionally made and I cannot be responsible for any damage that occurs to readers vehicles.
